Earl Stafford, Jr., Director, BNEF. The Beta Nu Foundation is committed on providing access to individuals through mentorship, through exposure.
Jeff Eskridge, Chairman, BNEF. What we’re trying to do as an organization is give them a leg up.
Tyree Jones, Member, BNEF. It really is the importance of having young scholars see you and learn from you.
Victor Hoskins, Member, BNEF. It’s just good corporate citizenship to help those that are trying to better themselves. And that to me is really a driver because that’s good for companies.
Horace Simpson, Youth Scholar Father. The program does an excellent job in terms of providing young men the opportunity to lead, to shine, to be disciplined and to give back.
Sam Fulwood III, Member, BNEF. It’s only right to give back. It’s only right to sort of pay it forward.
Dr. Greg Washington, Member, BNEF. Well I look at mentorship as fundamentally leadership.
Lt Gen Les Smith, Director, BNEF. You cannot be what you can’t see. And the only way you can see it is when somebody else shows it to you.
Pleasant Broadnax, Member, BNEF. What we want to do is make sure that we can be mentors and benefactors to the young men in the program.
Ken Bynum, Member, BNEF. I was mentored as a youth. Somebody looked out for me and made some openings that I never would’ve got before.
Although individuals seek mentorship, they have to be prepared for what goes through the process of mentorship. This is not checking a box.
Hershel Holiday, Member, BNEF. Stay with the process and trust the process and everything will come out right.
As we help these young men, our hope is that somewhere a seed will be planted in their lives so that they will have that spirit of helping and assisting individuals who need help, just like they do.
Emmanuel Edu, Scholar, BNEF. What this program has done for me is, I mean, not only provide me with the proper finances to get through university, but also just surrounding myself with a lot of successful and passionate and determined black men that are also doing a lot of big things.
Saleh Hassen, Scholar, BNEF. I really appreciated what this program provided for me in terms of college guidance and growing from being a boy to a man. One of those major things was having a role model to see who I’m capable of being.
Jalen Floyd, Scholar, BNEF. When Beta Nu stepped in, I really saw another level of support. It’s really giving me the confidence to be able to go out and try new things and know that I have people to bounce ideas off of and just ask questions whenever.
The dollar that you give provides ten times an opportunity for young people to succeed, and really young men as we know. That’s the challenge today.
Lawrence Clark, Scholarship Chair, BNEF. Most of the funds that come into the program are funds that are donated by the members of the organization.
Earl Stafford, Member, BNEF. These are men who seek self-actualization. That is, they want to do good outside of themselves when there’s not a direct return on their time, their talents, or their treasures. They do it because they care above and beyond themselves. And what return do they have? They have the return of seeing that I’ve made a difference in someone else’s life.
Dr. Michael Smith, Member, BNEF. Become the change you wish to see in the world. So don’t sit back and be a spectator. I encourage everybody archons, brothers, individuals in that communities, community organizations, companies. Let’s get involved.
Warren Thompson, Member, BNEF. Let’s step up and continue to do what we’re able to do to make sure that the next generation can replace us and do even greater things.
Last year, the Foundation raised $200,000 in its inaugural event. And that’s just the floor. We want to do much better than that in our next effort.
Karl Minter, Director, BNEF. Please help us help them, because in helping them, we are building new leaders for the future.
